I BROUGHT YOU UP

An almost 7-minute of raw emotion in a song. I think I gave it a firm structure so that it can feel like I have it together, and then when I go on my tangent halfway through the song and break from that, it's felt even more. 'I brought you up' can be interpreted in many ways: I talked about you + I talked well about you. The point of the song is that I've self audited, and ran it passed all walks of life and they've came to the same verdict. In the end, it didn't matter what I said. And the most significant thing that sticks out to me about this record is that I audibly and evidently give up. My vocals are weak and brittle—and that was raw and genuine.

I brought you up To my mother and father You weren't doing enough You gotta be a bit smarter They didn't fall for your act Said I need my whole guard up Cause your idea of love Don't exist so it's harder I'm not keeping score but I brought you up to the whole world They said it's not even close, girl How much is your love worth? I brought you up (I brought you up) To all of my girl friends They said you seem stuck And the fault is on your end They wouldn't play it like that From a woman to woman But with those friends on your back You wouldn't have known it I'm not keeping in score but I brought you up to the whole world They said it's not even close, girl How much is your love worth? It's none I brought you up to ChatGPT Said you're doing too much With how you're dealing with me Went through every last choice Said the best it could be, so clean Still you heard it as noise, but we were in too deep By the Long Island Sound Friends weren't sound nor deep Before I brought you up Brought you to the family Then you had me blocked and still wanna dictate me Oh please I'm not keeping in score but I brought your ass up to the whole world And they said that it's not even close and it shows What is your love even worth? It's worth nothing at all I brought you up to the whole world I brought you up to the whole world I brought you up to the whole world I brought you up to the whole world I brought you up To my favorite ex She was hurt and surprised You didn't know you were blessed Cause if we had the chance To do it again She wouldn't mess up like you And that's hardly a flex I'll bring you up To your ex that you think you loved With your stories 'bout me, I'm sure they're all just fluff If he's a cheat, I played for keeps We both called your bluff You're so out of touch, my love At last but not least I'll talk to your sister She's young and naive Hope she don't follow with ya Cause she saw me for me And the love that I'd give ya But there's more that you need So, please I don't need to make love to know if I'm in love I don't need to hold someone's niece and be domestic for what? I let you live your lie, you let me live my dream Sorry for caring, thought we made a good team I know why the way you are, it's a deep-rooted thing You is just a victim and you don't pull the strings Out of your control but please don't take it on me Made me believe I was out of my means How can that be? How can that be? You had all the benefits from all of my things So how can that be? Make your daddy proud with how you walked out on me Oh, yeah Apple's right by the tree Hotel rooms, where you would tell me your dreams I still believe in you, don't think that of me Christmas time, you couldn't give it a week I gave you two weeks All the time that you need Talk it out but won't speak How you blame this on me? Would've gave you what you wanted, what you needed I don't understand I was off the 'Gram, you looked through my friends How insecure Made peace with my past, why not do that with yours? Stop making excuses for the way that you were I know I give way too much to these girls But I gave you my all Yeah, I brought you up I gave it my all And I brought you up But now I'll just let you fall
